Nigerian Sexual Abuse : Spiritual cause?

So today, a friend of mine paid me a visit. During our reminiscing, she retold a rather awful tale which I have decided to publicize.
While at the saloon earlier today, a very young hawker walked by. She assumed the girls age to be about five; due to her physique, but the hairdresser corrected the impression. The girl was eight years old.
The hairdresser further informed my friend; the girl wasn’t a virgin, sleeps with a lot of men, even her landlord! And she’d begged the Landlord to have sex with her in exchange for one hundred naira.
What got my friend more aggravated was the hairdressers infuriating notion that the girl must be a witch to be able to seduce men even at such tender age.
How could an eight year old; with the torso of a five year old, seduce fully grown men into having sexual intercourse with her without their consent? Were they tied?
And how does witchcraft come into play?
Despite the arguments my friend routed, the hairdresser was adamant in placing the blame on the minor; who’s periodically violated, rather than the real sexual deviants.
My two cents; Parents and guardians, seek redress so this perverts would be punished for their crimes, rather than blame spiritual forces for screwed up brains.
What’s your opinion?

  1. Religion always finds a way to push the blame from the physical to the spiritual...i am not attacking religion but i am talking from an observative perspective. I have heard religious men say things like girls with mammy water spirits are very seductive, they give thier bodies to men so they can collect the man's glory/destiny (i don't knoe how that works sha)....but the proper authorities after knowing the girls story should be ablr to send enforcement agents to arrest those perverted men....i wonder what sweetness it is that could be derived from babied that are not even up to 10. I also watched a video of an interview of two men by one of the tv outlets and they were talking about young girls about the age of the girl you are talkin sbout wearing revealing cloths like bumshots and tight shirts, they said such dressing are provocative, my thought was, such men who can think that way should be arrested right there on the set and taken for questioning. Only deranged sex addicts can push as low as sexing a girl whose nipples haven't even started developing...we shouldnt blame the devil or any spiritual force for the evil that walks the earth, the evil resides in the heart of man and not outside.

  2. Very correct. We shouldn't blame anyone but rather look for solutions.

  3. It is psychological. I believe the girl should be spoken to and treated by a psychologist.

  5. This is a long one! So sad! The child is never to blame for sexual abuse. Two. What do you know that the child has been exposed to at an even earlier age! The environment she grew up in, the sick things she was told as a child, the violence she was exposed to. Nobody considers these things before name calling! We should sit and find out what went wrong! People don't just do things, there's a reason. Of course there's a spiritual side to it, but it is not witchcraft. Africans or Nigerians like to celebrate and over estimate the role of "witches". God help us

  7. The environment that children are exposed always have a great influence on them. This little girl might have live a life that whether his parents or guardians are the ones that are sexually maniac in nature and in one way or the other, she might have emulate this kind of life and at that age she can't get a mate that would be sexually active enough and what can do is to get older men to satisfy her wants. This doesn't mean the girl is a witch (I don't know), but she needs a psychologist to help her out of the situation if she would be able to cope.

  9. Our envuronments are not safe any longer. The society is not what we want it to be. Parents are not doing their duty and people in the community are not our brothers or sisters keepers any longer. Are we saying none of the family relatives aren't aware what's happening to her?

For those who know what's going on, what have they done?. We need to speak out when something is wrong from the first day when we saw it. Every life is precious.

  10. I cannot doubt the aspect of Spiritual forces involved in our daily lives and in situations that can't be explained. It's possible someone amongst those Men may have the capacity to "charm" the poor girl and it's also possible she might have been "bewitched" without the girl knowing. These are the consequences of our pasts; things have happened before now that we don't know or are unaware of. But there's hope ahead. We need to set things right.

    1. So the girl was bewitched to seduce men older than her ?

    2. I didn't say she was bewitched but it is possible she can be "bewitched and "she doesn't know". The act of witchcraft is no respecter of age or person, it's just and simply a spiritual activity and one should be able to discern when it's in operation by praying to God for our eyes of understanding to be open.

    3. Seems to me you are trying to justify the sexual deviants of their crimes by blaming the girl, based on spiritual factors

  11. I am not here to justify anybodies action neither to defend the other but to bring to our notice the existence of certain things we seem to neglect and overlook.

If you want me to comment on the actions of those Men in the scenario, I would say, they either took advantage of a helpless person or they were bewitched. But despite any of these actions, they were wrong in their doing.
